Hello Guys. This is my first post and last fall I bought a old Ford 640. This is the first tractor I have ever bought and the first one I have drove sense I was a kid back in the 60's. Any how I went out today to start the tractor to move it and it rolled over real slow. I know some of these old tractor has a Positive ground and was pretty leary of hooking up a battery charger. So I open the hood to see if I could see which side was positive was and which side was negative but I could see no markings on the battery but I know it is the original 6V system.
What I did was hook up a 0-10V DC volt meter with a positive and negative side to find out which way they had it wired. They have the positive side wired to the starter and the negative side to ground.
My question is, Is this the correct wiring or has someone wired it backwards??
Thank you in advance.
