Good morning guys. I am a tractor collector of odd stuff and had a chance to purchase what is supposed to be a single front wheel 7000 and 8000 tractor. Did they make these? Trying to learn what models all had this before I jump into something. I realize the odd stuff is always more money and I just want to have some more information from anyone that knows of this. I think it would look very cool and be a hard piece to find. Thank you much.

According to the Ford parts manual they did. At least for a 7000.

It ended up it is a 6000 ford commander with the single front wheel. It has the single arm front and all looks proper. It runs and drives well. It xould use a paint job but the metal is very straight. what might this be worth?

The 6000's are getting harder and harder to find parts for, so if you wanted to work it I would shy away from it as you never know what might fail when working an old tractor hard. But you say that you are a collector, so if it is working good now and all you are going to do is clean it up and show it, it should last a long while. As a collector it is worth whatever you are willing to pay for it if you only want to keep it and cherish it and aren't planning on flipping it. "Real retail value" depends on where you are located and what people near you would be willing to pay for it, which would probably vary widely on a 6000. Folks in some areas love them and in those areas the price might be higher, but I would guesstimate anywhere between $3000 and $6000 depending on the region of the country. The single wheel front end might make it worth a little more to some people and a little less to others.

If it were a 6000 it could be worth a lot more than a 6000 Commander. The 6000 is the original first year and is very collectible. They were painted red and gray at the factory.

I thought the 6000's were red and grey for the first two years (1961 & 1962) and they switched to blue & grey/buff in '63, the same year that the blue 2000 & 4000 models came out.
