Just though I'd do an update on the 960 that followed me home last month.
Got the gas valve changed, updated to 12 volt, updated to electronic ignition, new fuel line, new wiring, new ignition switch, and gave her a good looking over. Bought it from a friend off his lot, had been sitting for nearly two years. Some one broke the ignition switch, had the carb way out of adjustment. Had it running a week ago, but just got to take her out today for a real test drive. Was told it worked and ran good, but you know salesmen, but she ran great, tranny stayed in gear, nice and tight, governor kicked in when needed, no smoke, idles right down, only problem is the oil line is leaking at the gauge. Only thing she really needs is new rubber on the rear. Got excellent PA rims, don't know if I'll ever use them. Have loop style on the 841 and don't change the tread width on that one either. Have to think about whether to keep them or trade them off.
