What is the easiest way to remove the spring & yoke. I only want to remove it, to paint it, and under it.

Thanks, Pat

wouldn't advise it, just for paint, as with years of rust on those fine threads you will usually damage the lift control mechanism. But if you must, heat the threaded part of yoke red hot, important to let it cool somewhat before trying to turn it. If still no go, repeat the heat/cool cycle. If you try to turn it with both threaded parts red hot, you just weld them together, destroying both parts threads.

(quoted from post at 19:22:05 11/24/17) Take Jmors advise, but better yet, dont even try it.

I guess I'll paint it the way it is! Don't need to open a bag of worms. I have enough of them, I should be gone fishing.

That's why I usually ask first. Hmmm........ Sometimes :)

Thanks, Pat

If you do loosen it, anti-sieze it thoroughly upon reassembly to allow adjustment and easy removal when it is time to overhaul the lift cover.

Well today I was looking at my tractor, and thought, Hmmm! I went, and grabbed a small bar, and put it into the end, where the cross pin goes, and went to pry it. It wasn't more then just drag on it! I unscrewed it. I will now clean it, and paint it. Yes, I will put some anti-sieze on it, when reinstalling it after painting.

Put a new felt washer under it too.

Yes, I am going to replace the felt seal.

I have not looked at it since I removed the spring. It got cold out again, and I'll look at some day this week. But does the spring seat tube just pull off, or do I need to pull the three bolts on the plate to get the tube off.

Thanks, Pat

You need to remove those three screws. I believe that they sell that plate here at YT

Question, can I buy just the felt washer, or do I have to buy the plate with it on it? I can not find the felt washer on YT, just the plate.

My Ford parts book shows felt & plate as two separate parts.

Thanks, Pat

Yes they are two separate parts. Very cheap.
