Help Identify possible Ford 2910

Got a quick 5 minute look at an estate Ford Tractor today. As I understand, owner was a diesel mech. who passed, girlfriend is executor/schoolteacher and tractor is parked in yard at rental property. Tenant showed tractor. Info is that it is an 1984 Ford 2910, decal says 2910 but is not original. Plan to return Monday to start and test operation. Chrome Power steering ram was flaking and rusty - has been parked quite a while but advised it starts.

I checked TractorData before seeing tractor. ID Plate under hood is hard to read. Trans shifters were located at bottem of dashboard instead of on the trans cover - never saw this before and it has me questioning the year and model info. Would you guys take a look at the ID plate and comment please. Will

Numbers on the hood indicate it's a 86 model built in March.
Compare those numbers with the ones stamped on the flat pad behind the starter.

If the shift levers are located on the dash below the steering wheel, that's consistent with the 8x4 synchromesh transmission of that time.

No first hand knowledge of that transmission but have heard of shift linkage wear problems in that design.

Best I can read the code appears to be
BA454D
BA4 is consistent with it being a 2910
5= diesel with horizontal exhaust
4= ind. 540 pto
D= transmission ? my info doesn't show a D code but oddly it doesn't list the 8-4 synchromesh trans ether.

Next time there confirm that it is a letter D and post a photo of the shifters, if both are correct I'll update my list.

Also be sure to compare the hood info with the numbers on the pad behind the starter to insure the hood hasn't been changed.

I replaced the right side hood panel on my 4000 years ago with a good used one, I believe it came off of a 2610 or 3610, I pulled the foil sticker off so there would be no future confusion, BUT later I did a transmission swap so the numbers now say my 4000 all purpose is a 4200 row crop.
