Ford 63' 4000

Guys,
On a 63' ford 4000 ,the tractor will start in gear. The starter switch is there and hooked up and works. But it lets the tractor start in gear.Not good.
Bad switch or could it be something in the trans.??

4 or 5 speed are different in interlock area, but in either case, the problem could be either the switch or the interlock plate/mechanism, as the switch has a probe on it that mates with interlock plate and both parts function together to allow switch to activate or not.

It is a 5 speed, I am going to pull the switch today and check it out.
