Got a friend that saw my 960 at
our church fall festival last
year. Well we now go to the same
church. He still has pictures of
my tractor on his phone. He has
been researching and hunting and
decided he wants a 961 diesel with
a wide front. Nf not deal breaker
but rather have wide. If y'all
know of one for sale that would
love to make hay in Alabama email
me and I will put you in touch
with him. He told his wife he will
" drive 1000 miles for the right
tractor". Lol. Thanks. Kevin in

Not that I know where any are, but is he limiting his search to a 961 or might he entertain a 971 or 981 SOS?

He is not interested in sos.
Claims they have issues and are
dangerous. Lol. He ain't wanting
a show piece ,just a nice straight
tractor. Plans to rake hay with
it.

Thinking back to when hundereds were new, rakes were pulled by Farmall Bs and an occasional N or Mf20. Even with ganged rakes,is the 961 well matched to raking or does you friend just like the tractor?

Is your friend using a PTO driven hay rake?
If not, don't forget the 941/51. Same looks.
951 had the same 5 speed trans as the 961 but without live PTO.
941 had the four speed and non-live PTO.
Around here, a 941 would be a rarity.

So do I. I have an 801 I like but would go to a 961 if for nothing else,live pto,if I got the chance.

And most I see at shows are the 4 speed that I would not want, I would want the 961 but gas, no diesel for me.

Why a wide front? Those are awfully ungainly and ugly. at least in my opinion. Has he been mislead to that viewpoint that narrow front tractors tip over as soon as you let the clutch out?

I will hunt down a wide front and
swap it." He just wants what he
wants. Also doesn't want a sos.
Strong opinions. Does a diesel
have that much horsepower? He is
stuck on diesel too. I agree with you ,wide front is ugly.

The diesel makes less HP but diesels usually have high torque rise so they are better at low RPM pulling. I have three of the 4 cylinder row crops. 960 961 and 971D. here is the 961.
