Ford 641 Carburetor issues?

I've got a 641 that has run fairly well for the past couple of years, but now I can't get it to start and its got fuel dripping from the opening to the air cleaner. Any thoughts?

fuel dripping from the carb may not be a fuel issue / carb issue. it could be a lack of spark and over use of the choke.

let the gas disipate. then go and do a spark test.

if you have good spark, then try to start it on a whiff of start fluid. If it will start on start fluid, but then dies.. then
check the carb. they are easy to rebuild.

Does it matter that it drips even when I don't try to start it? It runs out if I don't shut the fuel line off, as soon as I open it it starts to drip again.

Has a good spark, changed the plugs and started right up, still leaks gas, looks like I need to replace rebuild the carburator.

Should clarify, I had put new plugs in last March and these were very foul and full of carbon so I'm thinking it's getting too much gas and not burning efficiently.

The guy I bought it from rebuilt it a few years ago, do you still think it's worth rebuilding again?

With this junky gas we have today, some people have to clean em every year or two. Just a gasket, cleaner solvent, and some stiff, small diameter wire.

Fords are very hard to start when the carb is overfull. Your needle valve isn't seating off. Whether you rebuild your carb or get a new one put an inline filter in between the shut off valve and the carb. it will do wonders keeping your carb clean. Other option is to remove your gas tank and clean it completely out. Sediment bowls/screens do a fairly good job but a filter will do better. just my 3 cents worth.
