Pin is the threaded type.Threads are gone where the pin screws into the bolster. Thinking about welding front of pin to front of bolster to keep pin in place.Retainers are gone at front of bolster to keep pin in place.
Any ideas about how to make a repair would be appreciated.Driveshaft for the front mounted hydraulic pump goes through the pin

Some of the tractors I have checked out use a pin that is not threaded and use an attachment to the pin which is bolted to keep the pin in place.
Unable to find a bolster so will need to make repairs.

Weld on replacement bolster plates are (or at least were) available to rebuild Ford front bolsters.

I have rebuilt two or three bolsters used in my vintage Fords with very good results.

Google Pete Pieffer (SP?).

The pin on my 841 had been welded in place by the previous owner because the threads were gone. I ground the weld off the threaded end, knocked the old pin out. Installed new bushing and pin, installed the retaining bolt on the front and welded around the threaded end, no problems.

I cannot find reference to Pfeiffer Sales and Service on the net but do have Pete's card with telephone numbers.

Not sure if he still supplies Ford tractor bolster repair plates but can supply phone numbers if interested.

JWA,
Thanks for the information. Pleased to find out that my ideas for repair have been done by others.

I found bolster kit. can u explain how to attach. do you weld or bolt the thread support in front or just screw into it with it behind where threads wouldve been. thks

Everytime I needed to repair one other than my own two things came into play.

1) they did not want to pay the price to repair it are find a replacement.

2) I am not gonna tie up my shop waiting for them to get lucky enoufh to run across a nice one cheap. Good oes are hard to come by if Dean has a good one goferit...

I use a pin for a ford 8N install it and weld it in on the back its a cheap repair and works. No more work than most will see again I doubt I are the next guy will ware it out again.
