I have an oil leak on my jubilee but can’t find the source. It is on the side under thr distributor (see photo). I can clean the side and after running a few hours it gets oil from about half way down. Can anyone suggest where the oil is coming from?

Thanks

Hard to say as there are a couple of possibilities, but it looks like the area under the crankcase vent is getting washed down. is the vent plugged? Does it blow any somke?

It could be the lifter side cover leaking. See if you can tighten those 3 bolts on the cover. The gaskets get hard with age.

Blurry photo isn't helping us to determine source of leak. Fan is likely blowing the oil leak rearward making it more difficult as well.

Try power washing (use foil to cover distributor) the right side of your engine and then run it again - The source of the leak should be more more apparent.

(quoted from post at 15:15:40 11/06/17) Distributor has gasket around the shaft housing. Check it. Has the hold down bolt been loose?

I’m not sure what the hold down bolt is. Is it under the distributor cap?

It's just like it sounds - The bolt at the base of the distributor that prevents the distributor from rotating after you've set the timing.

It is your valve cover gasket. They are very prone to leaking since you can't get it really tight. They tend to leak worst at the front, then gravity pulls it down and the fan pushes it back, right to your distributor.
