It was a 3000

Now I guess it's a 1500?
Tomorrow it will have a 201 Gas in it. What will I call it then?
I think I'll call it a mutt, but it should work fine.

"Holy buckets....those tires...!"

LOL yeah, I think they're 21.3 x 16. I'd have to check for sure.
Fronts are short, wide, low groove. I think they're 11 inches wide.
Tractor came off a golf course.
Oh yeah, they're loaded with CaCl too! Never enough fun. ;)

"All that makes it a 4110 LGC"

That's interesting Destroked. I have no experience with those.
Were there other differences between them too?

Look in Tractor Data, Ford section, industrial tractors, there's a photo of one.

What I know about them is they where basically low profile 3000's with a larger 4000 engine, mainly seen them used by road dept's for mowing road sides.

They had short spindles and drops, standard front tires where 13" but I've seen them with 10" wheels, backs where 24's but I seen one with a set of wide 16" wheels.
fenders had short stands like hundred series row crop to match the shorter tire.

They also built a 2000 version called the 2110 LGC

Destroked is correct. Some of them came
with short little duals on the rear. Like
about 8x24? Didn't the tractor you got
that engine from have louvered side hoods?
If so you might find your engine is a 192
and not a 201.

Speaking of the 192 does anyone know when the 201 change took place?
My book says April 68 but I'm having a slight issue with that.
I've disassembled 3 4000 gas tractors over the years.
67 louvered hood converted to diesel, for sure a 192
Apr 68 louvered hood with Mar 68 engine, should have been a 192, parted out.
Jun 68 smooth hood with May engine that should have been a 201 if my book is correct, converted to diesel.
All three had crank pulleys that had half of the spoke holes filled, all 201 diesels I've worked on had all four spoke holes open on the pulley.
I've never worked on a later model gas 4000 to see what pulley it had.
Anyone know if the half filled pulley is specific to the 192 engine or specific to a gas engine.

I still have the May 68 engine but its seized and I can't turn the engine to measure the stroke.
If it is a 201 I need the crank, the two piece crank in my 4000SU has low oil pressure issues. :?

(quoted from post at 10:41:10 11/05/17) 3-cylinder 4000 gas went to 201 CID in 1968. This info is shown in the "new model supplement" in the 2000-5000 repair manual.

I have that book, read that.
My Service Data Book shows the 192 prior to Apr 68, and the 201 after Apr 68.
The engine in question is a May 68, is it possible they continued installing some 192's until they had depleted the inventory.
I was wondering if the crank pulley would be a identifier as to weather my engine is a 192 or 201 or was only used on gas engines while to open pulley was used on diesels.

With the extra weight on one side of the pulley I would thing it has something to do with the balance of the rotating assembly, thus having to do with the different stroke of the 192.

I too believe it was April 1968.

I once owned a low hour 68 4000 with 192 gasser and S-O-S. I went through it completely, repairing all of the little things that were not quite right.

Subsequently, I tried for two years to use the 4000 as my 6' rotary cutter tractor but could never bring myself to like it better than my 55 860, which had been used with the same 6' cutter for 10+ years, so I sold it. The 4000, 192 gasser produced only a couple of HP more than the 172 engine in my 860 and was pulling considerably more weight around than was the 860. Moreover, it was less maneuverable and had a higher center of gravity. The 860 would do the same mowing work with the same mower in less time and use about the about same fuel as the 4000, even though the 4000 had a much more versatile SOS transmission and independent PTO. The only improvements that I noticed wire PS and better brakes. (FWIW: I loved the SOS but not the 3 cylinder 4000.)

I eventually, retired my 860 from mowing duty (still own it but it is seldom used), replacing it with a new 2007 MF 533 (the 2007 version of the 135). The 533 was a nice little 2WD mowing tractor that used little fuel but neither MF nor their dealers (now both gone) treated me fairly so I made the change-over to Kubota in 2015. There is no going back.

My retirement project is a 64, 4 cylinder 4000 with SOS, PS, and dual remotes. I have a very low hour 4 cylinder 192 high compression NG engine that I have converted to gasoline to replace the tired 172 in the 4000 but I will not install the 192 until I retire and have the time to overhaul the SOS, which works well but has never been overhauled. The high compression 192 should produce 60+ PTO HP in the small, low CG and maneuverable 4000 with PS, but will be a gas hog. It's now a hobby project as I now use a Kubota L6060 hydrostat for 6' mowing duty. Did I say that there is no going back for work tractors?

I have never pursued the build numbers on
the blocks of these things.
But others have.
Wouldn't someone here be able to decipher
the numbers on the pan rail and tell you
if it is a 192 or 201?

I've seen the LCG's, there's a 2110 around the corner from me.
It has the duals even, but I've never owned one so no experience.

I should have looked at the serial number when I was there.
Honestly can't say if this is a 201 or a 192.
According to the seller it is a 1970 201. Either way it's a boost.
Not to mention a whole lot cheaper than rebuilding the 158.

The engine is in, front end back on and tractor setting on the tires.
I didn't get it fired up today though. Had a nice time with the dual
clutch, including breaking off two of the clutch to flywheel bolts in
the flywheel. Luckily, I got both of them out and replaced.
If I ever make a list of my favorite things to do, getting those dual
clutches aligned properly will not be on it!

Thanks Tom, yes I was looking for a handle. I found it on YT.
This first picture is the Tisco valve I was looking for a handle for.

The second a valve like that guy's top handle came from.

The third is a valve identical to his with both correct handles.
That picture of the third valve was taken with it on my 3000.
It is now back on my 960 as the handles hit the draft control lever
on the 3000 causing the 3 pt hitch to drop when using the remotes.
The valve works beautifully. I'd hate to break the handles.

yup. That 3rd. one is the exact one I had on my 4000. The handle mounting ears were bent on both mine so I slowly heated them until they were cherry red and then slowly closed them back up in a vise. I understand these are hard to come by so I didn't want to rush it and break either of them.
