Look what followed ME home!

Lynn,

Good on you. I have a 1973 Ford 2000. Not quite as big, not quite as tough as your 3000, but it has served me very well for many years.

A little soap. A little wax, and your tractor will look like a new one!

A lot like the 3000 I recently found in my tool shed...!

Is it always going to be true ( as I have found) that if you work on a F-O-R-D, that IF there is any possibility of any way anything can go wrong with the job at hand, it WILL...!!

I have LEARNED that positively...!!
Last was the new Drawbar (it had none),,had to install/remove the entire thing 3 times...!
Power-washed it and the oil pressure line cracked...had new on on and THEN it would not start..(Diesel, and New Battery)..!!!
Ended up replacing nearly every wire under the Hood..
Sure reminds me of days gone by when I drove Fords..I ALWAYS had parts left over that were not needed..!!

Hope your Gas 3000 uses a lighter Battery than my Diesel..

That sucker would give an Elephant a Hernia..!!!

Oil pressure line? None of my have a oil pressure line.
Don't know what to think about the draw bar issue, was it aftermarket?
Sooner or later no matter what brand it is, it'll have to be worked on.
But at least you can work on it, new ones have to have a dealer plug them to a puter that tells them what to replace.

Great tractor. The missing front grill is pretty inexpensive on line. And if you need front lights, I put LEDs on mine and are very bright and use little battery.

Oh, not a lot, but as expected...!

I figured that removing the drawbar from the frame would make it easier to install ( it did)..

Then, I found out you Cannot install the drawbar with the frame mounted. (the Drawbar Pin will not come even close to allowing it...

Also, I am aware now that you MUST remove the Drawbar frame completely, even to change the Drawbar Length)..!!!!!!!!

Some engineering MORON probably got PAID for this design...

I am sure I will find many more...( I still have not found how the Tach is driven or the Pre-Heater)..

Not really sure I want to know..!

Other things have popped up also..!

I guess you need to be a "Book Worm", to work on these..the Manuals kind of suck, too..!

I talked with a JD Mechanic and he feel about like me..they were designed by Aliens or something...really a weird experience...!

You put the pin in from the bottom and there should be enough room to slide the cotter pin cotter pin in at the top to engage the main pin without removing the drawbar frame.

The draw bar pin should have the R clip at the top of the drawbar frame. Sometimes hard to reach but pliers usually work pretty well.

Pull the R clip and the draw bar pin should fall right out on the floor. Then you can adjust the draw bar in or our or off.

Thats exactly how I feel about JD's when I work on one.
Designed by moron engineers or built by aliens, amounts to about the same thing.[/quote]
