Hey Folks,
I had posted a little over a month ago about hearing a grinding noise and my tractor getting stuck in park -- here is link:
http://www.yesterdaystractors.com/cgi-bin/viewit.cgi?bd=ford&th=634433

I am just now getting to splitting it. Turns out the splines for the input shaft are stripped, as well as the torque limiting clutch "sleeve"- stripped also. So the torque limiting
clutch is easy enough to replace, but obviously the "input shaft" (not sure if that is proper name for it...) is not. Sean is PA suggested that I talk to John Smith, who does a really
cool repair of these inputs for "1959-64 only" and as I found out after emailing him, that only is firm. He will not touch the '65-'75 4000's. So my question: is this slightly more
modern input shaft easier to find or am I in the same boat as my 4 cylinder predecessors?

Look up a post 3000OH made Oct 22
It's a CL ad about a gay parting out a 4000 SOS
Royce bought the engine and Ultradog got some parts also.
Call the guy up about the SOS parts, he didn't say why he was parting it but you may get lucky.

Wink, Destroked may be on the right path here.
The guy I bought that engine from was parting it out because the transmission had trouble.
While I was there he told me that he was told there probably wasn't anything wrong but adjustments.
That didn't matter to him, he wanted the rear end and the rest was going.
He was going to scrap the tranny. I have the TLC here. The splines in it are badly worn too.
I still have his contact information and can contact him for you if interested.
He's just north of Dayton, OH. My email is open.

Maybe you can see the TLC splines here.

Thanks guys, I messaged you royse.
Just out of curiosity, does anyone have/know where to find a part number for that input shaft? I realize its hard to find but I cant even locate a picture of the thing other than the 1959-64 version on John Smith's website.

I've got a good one out of a 3000. Likely the same. My email should be available in modern view.

My shaft is a 10 spline single speed PTO. Part # CJPN7B496B

4000 single spd pto uses the same shaft # CJPN7B496B
Clutch coupler # D0NN7A539B shows to still be available. $504

A good machine shop could make a hub or find a coupler the correct size and spline count and weld it to the old disc.

Had an outfit that repaired several of these by grinding your input shaft square, then cutting out the center of the TLC and welding in a matching heavy square tube. Could cut a section of TLC housing and weld the square on. None of these failed after considerable use. Certainly not as good as replacing parts but WAY cheaper.
