Slow Loader w/ the jitters

Ok, now that I have the 703 loader installed and all my lines plumbed and reservoir filled, the loader isn't working quite like it should. It's really slow regardless of RPM, and both the lift and bucket are jerky. I'm also getting a ton of air and fluid blowing out of the breather if I really extend the lifters up and bring it all the way back down. If I do it slow it seems fine, but if I push the control all the way in as it comes down it really pours out of the breather valve.

Can someone explain what I should be experiencing while purging the system? Roughly how long should it take? I'm guess these items are beyond just air in the system prior to purge.

What should I look for re: air being pulled in? Some of the hoses aren't in great shape. One on the bucket is leaking currently and will be replaced, the others appear to be fine from a leak standpoint. One on the lifter does have some of the metal weave showing, but the local parts guy said that should be ok as long as it's intact.

Thanks All!

If fluid is coming out of the breather seems like you may have put in
too much hydraulic fluid. Did you pour the fluid in through the
breather port? If so there's a capped standpipe on the rectangular
horizontal frame member and in front of the control valve that serves
as a level plug. With the cap off the level plug, fluid should just
dribble out when fully serviced. Personally I use the level standpipe
to add hydraulic fluid. As far as slow/jerky operation, are you sure
the pump drive shaft is not slipping? That is not unheard of with the
703, especially is it's the keyed version of the shaft (as opposed to
splined). Also, FYI, the system should be self-bleeding by operating
lift and curl circuits fully a couple times.

I haven't noticed a port other than the breather, I'll have to take a look. I had read multiple places that it should be filled until there is fluid in the crossbar. The fluid that would come out would be milky white with air. Now I can still hear the air rushing out, but no fluid. It's still very slow and unresponsive.

The pump was off of the old loader as it seemed to be set up better for my tractor. The one that came with it was keyed, the one I used has the spine. That all looks to be good.

Thanks!

I'd probably drain the fluid and if it is water-contaminated (whitish
or chocolate milk looking) replace and refill with new. It's pretty
easy to drain, plug in the frame below the pump. Are you sure the
pump you are using is properly sized and not worn out? Does it have
unrestricted flow of fluid on the suction side? Myself I'd probably
try the pump that came with the loader to see if that one works
better. Good luck.

I drained the old fluid and replaced it today, even the old stuff seemed ok.

As for the pump, it came off the previous loader which had issues with the lift cylinders. Both cylinders leaked fluid and sometime even air. The pump that came with has the key, not sure how'd I'd go about converting it to spline but I'll have to look into it.

Thanks again.

On the hose with the braid showing. Get some one inch plastic pipe. The kind that comes in coils. Take a razor knife and cut it in spirals. Now you can spiral it onto the worn place or any other places that rubs to protect them.
