Tw20 cab fan motor

Ive replaced a cab fan unit in my 7700 years ago. Was spendy back then for the whole unit....

The tw20 cab fan is howling terrible, bad bearing I would guess or whatever, its dying. Dealer happens to have a cab fan motor is stock, so I'm picking that up in the morning. (Wife does tillage for me, it is in the 30s here, I need to keep her comfortable or my cold blooded low cost work force will go on strike.....)

I recall hearing getting those squirrel cage fans off, and back on, is a real bear.

Any trick to it, I assume they are just press off, press on, and fragile in the process? Never looked real close, but trying to go with what the dealer has on the shelf and get er done...... any hints would be cool. Or, warm?

As I recall, those fans are held onto the motor shaft with set screws, which take a long allen wrench to get to. The fans are not pressed onto the shaft from factory, but you'll think they were, as they'll likely be seized to the shaft. Some heat and/or penetrating fluid may be in order.

Thank you. If it rains/snows enough on Wednesday I'll sit down and look things over. Carefully.

Harvest is getting to be a chore this year, should be about wrapped up and getting through tillage by now, but not this year......

I had one on a Case once that was howling badly. I opened up the intake and sprayed WD-40 in. Enough got drawn to the bearing to quiet it for a month or two.

On our 8700 I needed to saw the shafts off to press the shaft out. Was rusted tight. Need to support the hub as these bend easy. On our Case 1690 I remember getting a whole assembly from surplus center that fit. Was cheaper than the motor from Case.
