This came off my 4 cyl. 4000 a couple years back when I converted it to 12V, electronic ignition and an alternator. Thing is, when I bought the tractor, there was a 12V battery in it but all 6V lights. Not sure if the PO just threw in a 12V for me to get it started and bought or if this could be a 12V generator? I doubt it because of all the 6V lamps but thought I'd ask.

No way to determine from the photo but I would be VERY surprised if it was a 12V generator.

Unless your tractor was a diesel it's unlikely it's 6 volt. If
your tractor was a diesel the 12 volt it would have had a
negative ground. I have seen the 6volt Genny hooked up to a 12
battery positive ground by PO.
It is possible to buy a 12volt Genny along with the VR off a
diesel and run it on your tractor.
Was your tractor 12 volt positive ground when you got it?

Is this a LUCAS Generator?

I have both a 6 Volt as well as a 12 Volt Lucas Generator and they look identical...made in England:

If you have a 12-volt battery and 6-volt lamps, you will let all the smoke out of the lamps permanently as soon as you apply power. It doesn't make sense unless you mean you had a 6-volt battery and 12-volt lamps. Then your 6-volt would power the lamps but they'd be dim. That is a FORD 6-Volt Generator.
