4600 Tacometer

My 4600 tachometer quit with just 300 hrs on new panel. disconnected cable at the pump and its seems intact. can I check this with a drill to see if the cable is spinning? Haven't pulled the instrument panel yet.

Check the output shaft on the generator. The square drive hole may have become round. BTDT.

Tach on a 4600 should be driven by the oil pump drive under the oil filter.
Yes you can spin it with a drill, I'd use a variable speed drill.
I've have had the little short cable break a couple of times on my 6610, need to pull the long cable out and lube it.

Spinning it between your fingers is usually enough... It's not at all uncommon for the short cable in the angle drive to break. Start the engine with the long cable disconnected and you should see the angle drive spinning.
