Tractor started to sputter the other day and died shortly after. It had intermittent spark. So I changed to a pertronix ignition (already 12v conversion neg ground. Still nothing. Changed rotor, cap, and coil still nothing. Went back to points after fighting with it. Still nothing...... Any suggestions?

Do you have power to the coil? After that through the coil
with the points open to the distributor, through the side of
the distributor and all the way to the points?
Since the EI did work either, I might suspect a bad key switch.
Easy to prove with a meter before buying any parts.

Is the distributor turning?

I know it is 2020 hindsight, but I would not change ignition to Pertronix if not functioning, now you have two things to troubleshoot.

Pull the cap and rotor and dust cover. Turn the engine over till you have the point open. Then use a hot wire from the battery ignition side to the ignition side of the coil. Touch the coil wire hook up area with the wire on and off a few times and watch for a spark. If you have a spark good chance the insulator in the side of the distributor has gone bad and is shorted out
