72 ford 2000 what types of hydraulic fluids

Hi guys , just wondering what hydraulic fluid to use
for the lift. I would prefer not going to a new holland
dealer. This is for a 1972 2000. Thank you
 
My self I would use a UTF type fluid that meets the Ford spec. I use the 303 UTF fluid I buy at Orscheln's farm and home. Cost is around $20-25 depending on if it is on sale
 
If you live anywhere near a Fleet Farm they're having a sale on the stuff right now.
$22/pail. Normally about $46.
I bought 3 last night. And a deer license.
If you aren't used to the stuff you'll find it surprisingly thin. Like 30W or so.
But some of the fellows here have some big 8/9000 and bigger TW Fords that are getting long in tooth now and they're still chugging away on this oil.

Orschlen's in my area has it for $24.95 all the time and when on sale for $19.95. O'Reilly's auto parts has it for $46 all the time so O buy form the other place
 
I have avoided the 303 stuff at Tractor Supply and our local farm stores because it doesn't specifically say Ford 134 on the can. At one time I spent some time on Google trying to find out if 303 could be used in place of 134 and the general conclusion was it isn't the same stuff.

Now I read the cans and buy whatever the cheapest is that actually says it meets the Ford 134 spec. Always a few bucks more than the 303 stuff but lets me sleep better.
 
I would not use TSC's 303.
Instead, I use TSC's "Traveller Premium Universal Tractor Trans/Hydraulic Fluid".
 
Better than old, dirty, contaminated oil? Certainly. Would I use it if it doesn't say it meets 134D specs? No.
A guy on another forum was asking what oil to use in his newly acquired 3400 with an SOS. Someone actually suggested ATF.

Agree with that, I bought a bucket of the 303 stuff when I got my 3600 home because it was cheap and what was in the tractor was just as you described. After draining the tractor I filled it with the 303, ran it for a couple days mowing then changed it again using 134. Basically just using the 303 stuff for a flush.

Not too long ago I decided to drain my fluids on my '63 (4 cyl) 2000. The tranny has been running on a mix of 90 and hyd fluid (3 sumps) for a long time due to pin holes in the hyd pressure line running through the case that Soundguy identified for me long ago.

JD 303 is what I look for as Ford 134 doesn't show up as often. Anyway, I like the smoothness of the heavier oil but I can understand the ease of shifting in northern climates with the thinner fluid. I bought a little bottom of the line Branson 2400 for general farm chores and I wish it had 3 sumps. The tranny would get 90 gear oil.
 
Not in any of my tractors... would likely be ok in the 4600's transmission, the trans, hydraulics or rear end of the Jubilee, or the p/s on any of them, but if it doesn't say it meets 134D specs, I won't trust it for an SOS, Dual Power, or wet disk brakes. So I use 134d-compatible for everything except the engines, so I only need to keep two types of oil on hand.
