Insufficient information but best guess: Not running, $1,000; running, $2,500+.

Ya I know Dean....Will get more info once I talk again with the owner. Where abouts is the serial # plate on this machine?. I kinda looked for it when I was there

The numbers are stamped into the bell housing just above the starter.

Look for the model # and SN.

Dean

Add a bit to my running estimate for the good tires, fenders and power steering. Probably $3,500 if running with no apparent issues.

Look for a Sherman combination transmission. Add $500 if it has one.

Dean

What transmission does it have? If a 5 speed, check for it to pop
out of third gear. Especially when going down hill with weight.

Power steering is a definite plus. How are the rims?
Tires loaded? If so, what are they loaded with?

It's a nice looking machine from what I can see.
Around here, in running condition it might bring $2500.

It seems the selling prices keep dropping, but the asking
prices keep going up. Hopefully it is a cyclical price change.
I've got a few I'd like to sell when the prices go back up! :)

Tires are good ...no sign of leaking calcium chloride around rims..hydraulic hoses are old and cracked but see no sign of leakage around them.

According to owner his dad bought it brand new...he still has purchase receipt but wasn't home to tell me when it was purchased.

No Sherman transmission da**it.

Oil in engine is in good shape..no sign of water.

Oil in tranny is a light transparent brown color..no water

It is a 640 with a serial number of 45296 with diamonds on start and finish of number.

I'm excited to get if the price is right...I gotta get this tractor out this barn before it falls down

In Central AL $ 2500 if it's
running. I would love to have a
640 with a loader. If the motor
ain't stuck,but it won't start and
you have to drag it out of the
barn I would still go 1500 on it.
Most everything is easy to fix.

Interesting to find a 640 with PS. Must be a late 57.

If running and without apparent issues, should bring $3,000+ in my area.

Dean

nice tractor.
Hard for me to assign a value as I buy cheap......
but if the owner was asking me advice before selling....I'd say $2500 just like it sits. If I get it running for him....$3000+
And I would tell him not to give much on price. A good loader tractor with PS, front pump, bucket curl......will sell.
(I also like the condition....my 3 year old loader bucket looks more beat up than that one)

ps interesting place to mount a regulator if that is what that is... :)

that is a ballast resistor going to the coil

It has a four speed not a five. I'm guessing since it has a
resister from a dodge truck that it's converted to 12 volts. I
don't see any power steering cylinders.

I see a PS cylinder in the first OP photo.

The link that I posted below clearly shows a 5 speed in the second (?) photo.

It did have a real small 12 volt battery in it that is deader than a door nail. Also it still has a generator on it. not sure if any of that is working or not cuz I haven't heard it run, Still waiting to hear back from the owner about a purchase price.

It does have at least one steering cylinder you can see in the pic with the red arrows pointing to it

today was a good day...I purchased that Ford 640 plus a Gannon box scrapper with big ripper teeth. All for $500

This tractor is not been running for at least 5 years so the gas in it more like varnish.

Tomorrow my neighbor and I will go up to this tractor about 4 miles away and jack up the bucket and chain it off so he can pull me home slowly.

Outta be an interesting trip

Purchased? More like STOLE! LOL
I hope it works out well for you! :)

(quoted from post at 19:39:58 10/24/17) Man! What a deal ,uh , steal!
Nice. Keep us posted .

Today I did manage to hook up a 12v battery to the starter to crank it over a bit. It did build some oil pressure which was encouraging. I was hoping to also build some hydraulic pressure to raise up the bucket but I don't think it was cranking fast enough.

Tomorrow I will use a hi lift jack on the bucket to relieve weight while cranking to get the bucket off the ground so it can be towed home

Made it safely to Nash Ranch today after being drug for 4 miles. It was a cold wild ride tailgating my Chev. Tahoe. She is now high and dry in my shop. Got the battery on the charger and just finished draining the gas tank and cleaning out the carb. It was 14" deep with varnished sludge and the float was stuck closed but it all cleaned up good and should be good to go. Also cleaned and regapped the points and now I've got spark so later this afternoon it should be running again after a 10year nap..

She runs like a top, it is a fully functional tractor at this time. It's got a few hydraulic oil leaks but all works ok. Brakes need adjustment slightly. Tomorrow I go pickup Gannon box blade and a 6-7 foot wide disk harrow and another cultivator on steel wheels. Will have some pics of the goodies tomorrow
