Does Ford 4000 parts work on Ford 4500 TLB

Hello All,
This is my 1st post but have been reading for a couple of weeks. A wealth of knowledge and great prices on parts too so cudo's to Yesterdays Tractors.

The wife and I finally fulfilled our dream and bought an old Homestead 2 months ago and I just acquired my 1st piece of equipment. a 1972 Ford 4500 TLB. Got her rather cheap but she needs minor work. I have an inop genny and power steering pump.

My 1st question which will clarify some confusion for me is when shopping for parts, if I select the Ford 4000 category do those parts also work for the 4500 model? I would like to do the Alternator swap but if I select the 4500 model only the genny is returned in results. the 4000 category has an alternator which is described like the 10si conversion I've read but unsure if it will work for my model.

Thanks for any assistance in advance.

The 3 cylinder 4000 years 1965 through1975 is the base unit your 4500 was built from. The main differences are in the front axle, steering, and
front sheet metal are all much heavier duty

Joe,
You are correct.
But to answer his question:
Yes.
The alternator conversion and the power steering pump from a 3 cylinder 4000 are a direct fit for his 4500.
Hole digger,
Welcome to the board.

I have a 1971 Ford 4500 TLB, I plan on going with the one wire alternator swap. Mine has a new power steering pump when I bought it, but it also came with a rod knock, so I tore it down, and I'm going through the whole machine. I swapped out the 4x4 trans with the torque converter for a 6x2 manual transmission from a the 3 cylinder Ford 2000 tractor, it was a bolt in deal (I paid $1400 for the whole machine).
A slide show of the progress so far.

The 4500 p/s pump is the same basic pump as the 4000, but the relief valve on the 4500's pump is shimmed to give you 1250 pis, while the one for the 4000 is set for 1000 psi. 1100 psi should be enough to steer a 4500 unless you are near the maximum lifting capacity of the front bucket.
