Difference between ford 3000 and 3400

Is the differences between the ford 3000 and 3400 the different front axle and the
bigger power steering cylinders? Is the everything else the same if both were diesels
and both have 8speeds?

They are nearly identical machines. Front axle, bolster, radius rods and tie rod/drag links are heavier on the 3400. Bigger rod on the steering cylinders and slightly different arms on the steering box.
Box itself is identical.
Cast iron pan vs steel one.
3400 sheet metal was always? set at the higher setting. Probably 3400 used 24" rubber more often than 28" but both could be had with either size. 3400 often had the 6X4 transmission which usually had trans pto. Don't think the 3000 was offered with the 6X4.

As UD said but I would add, along with taller setting of sheet metal you will a need longer neck on fuel tank, also
the wheel centers will most likely be cast compared to standard pressed steel.

Never knew that, I will say the brakes are definitely not strong enough for the machine tho, my 3400 you couldn't hardly hold on a hill without a heavy load, with a trailer had to make sure you planned carefully

Hey Im new to the forum. I have what I believe to be a 3400 front end loader (yellow) appears to be an old DOT machine. There is no 3point hitch or pto installed on the tractor. There is a blank cover over where a pto shaft would normally be. I have the opportunity to buy a 3000 parts tractor (blue) with the missing components. Are these parts interchangeable? Has anyone here done this? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

You should probably start your own new thread rather then attaching your post to this 4 year old thread. Most folks here use
Classic Vies, and they won't see it.

The answer to your question is yes, but you will most likely need to swap everything from the transmission back, and possibly the flywheel as well.
