1980s Ford tractor tach, replacing plexiglass

Anyone ever replaced the plexiglass on one? Any words of advice before I have parts jump out that I can't put back in it?

Pretty much everything is contained in the back panel, pull the screws out holding the back to the front and separate them, then you have the face plate and the plexiglass.
I have a 4630 cluster in my 4000 that needs a new plexiglass.

Never done it, but I did replace the Plexiglass in my soft cab
with Lexan. It costs more, but is virtually unbreakable.
It will discolor if left in the sun untreated, and scratches don't buff out.

Treating it for discoloration is not terribly expensive, though I didn't
treat mine since I stored my tractor under cover when not in use.
I was more concerned with the cold weather cracking in my case.

Just an option since such a small piece probably wouldn't cost much.

Used Mequire's headlight restoration on my 2810 cluster, amazing results. only reason I tried it was that someone gave me the kit. I always figured it was some sort of snake oil. Now I believe.

Home Depot sells small .093" sheets of Lexan; very reasonable. You tube has videos telling you how to handle it. Try Lowes also but they don't have Lexan as I recall. Lexan is used in auto light covers and you know what the sun does to it. These stores sell other types of Acrylic plastics too. I just bought a whole new (drop in) gauge set off ebay for about 80 bucks that fits most 1000 series Fords with the needle pivot at the top and 0 on the right. Guy had a whole box of new ones. Free shipping, no tax.
