Marvel Carb Gasket Issue

The carb on my recently purchased 860 was covered in crud and seemed to be leaking gas from the main gasket. Took it off, soaked it in simple green and cleaned it, then rebuilt it using a kit from TS. It runs great now, but I'm getting even more gas coming out of that gasket. I took it back off the tractor and split it and the gasket was soaked. What should I be looking for here? Something causing too much gas to flow in or is there a secret to get this gasket to seal properly? I reused the 4 old screws and lock washers if that makes any difference.

Thanks!

Your gas level is most likely too high in the carb.
Raw gas should not get that high in the carb except for "splash".
Float level needs to be adjusted, the needle isn't seating, gasket
under the needle seat is missing, seat not tight/sealing, bad float etc.

If, and that's a pretty big if, the gasket is leaking from splashing
gas, then possibly one of the two halves of your carb is not true
and needs to be resurfaced.

Thanks, I'll give those things a go. The float level was at 1/4 at install so that should be fine. I appreciate the response.

Is it odd that the flooding doesn't seem to effect performance? It idled wonderfully, runs just fine although it hasn't been under load really.

The float is at .25 and everything else seems to check out. I'll give the seat one more look before I throw it back on.
