I got the loader off yesterday and got the tractor in my shop. I need to get the tin off so I can fix all the oil leaks.hoses and a few other things . I
have two question should i change the 6 volt to 12 and what about paint . There is no rust and oringal paint is ok but not great . I will be using it
for hauling wood and other jobs around my property. Kind think if it looks to nice i might not want to use it.

Do what you want. I my self hate to do a real good paint job because if I did so the first thing that would happen is I would scratch it up some how. As for 6 volts if it work fine. Me I switch my tractors to 12 volts since In the long run it is cheaper to do so because alternators seem to hold up longer and better then generator do

Your choice really. If it works good and charges good now, why
spend the money to change it to 12V? When it quits charging,
then it's often cheaper to convert than it is to get a good regulator.

As for the paint, if it is a show tractor and original, I might leave it.
If it is a show tractor and already repainted, I'd paint it.
If it is a working tractor, especially if not original paint, I'd paint it
while the loader was off. Paint isn't just there to be pretty.
It helps protect the metal from rusting.
A brush and roller works fine for workers. No need to spend big bucks.
I would still spend the money on hardener though.

(quoted from post at 15:26:48 10/14/17) P.S. Nice tractor!
Wish I could find one with an Elenco at a reasonable price.

Yeah, you probably know that clamdigger got the deal of the century on that 801.

I only want "reasonable" Showcrop. I don't want to STEAL it! LOL
He got a heck of a deal and I'm happy it's working out for him.
