I have a 1957 Model 900 Ford Tractor and am looking to repair the power steering cylinder and control valve, both are leaking. The Ford part numbers are 231128 control valve seal kit and 309528 cylinder repair kit . I d really appreciate your help to locate these parts Thanks

The cylinder repair kit s available at Messicks (NH dealer) for $149.99. The valve repair kit also available at Messick's for $71.49. You can hold both kits in one hand. If the cylinder ram has lost part of it's hardness it is time to take it to a machine shop for a new ram. The valve might just need a through cleaning.

Charlie, before starting on the repair, check the cylinder rod at midpoint, especially the underside. A cylinder seal kit will not help you if the rod is pitted. I repaired a pitted rod after a good cleaning by filling the pitted area with JB weld four years ago.

Okay, the cylinder looks new, no rust or pitting. My problem now is how to remove the oil seal! the manual says to use a sharp instrument and pry the seal from its seat. It is well recessed and with the cylinder in the way I can't seem to do it. Suggestions? Thanks a bunch.
