injectors for 4 cylinder ford diesel used in a ford 871

you can find some on ebay. I have a few sets but i just got my tester so I dont have the test lines yet. I could hook them up to a runningn tractor but i couldnt tell you their pop pressure until I get my test lines. you also cant check leakage under pressure that way. Do you just need some or are you having engine problems.?

riverroadrat,

My friends 871 ford tractor with the 4 cylinder diesel makes a lot of white smoke when it first starts which decreases a lot after the engine has run awhile Smoke smells like diesel I was thinking the injectdors might be leaking. Engine starts easily and runs good but has a miss once in awhile

Injectors have replaceable tips, that may be all they need. What you describe sounds more like low engine compression, white smoke on colds starts that slowly clears as the engine warms up is a good sign compression heat is not high enough when cold. If so, new tips or complete injectors won't help. Injection pump timing will affect smoke too, if the static timing is off, or the pump advance is not working correctly, that can cause white smoke also..

dieseltech,

I agree with You regarding low compression in the diesel on my Friends 871 Ford tractor. One of the local contractors has a large 10 yard diesel dump truck. Nick name for the truck is Old Smokey. Reminds me of the farm tractor we are repairing.
Need to set up some type of stay chains to keep the 5 foot mower in a set position. Have any thoughts on such a set up? His tractor has position control but I think the lift cylinder for the 3 point is probably leaking.
Had this problem on my 1948 ferguson which didn't have position control. Installed a position control device, put a new lift cylinder for 3 point and it works great now.

Could be a few things on holding position. If the piston seal is really bad you can rev the engine at about 1500 and watch your implement bounce everytime it corrects itself. The more bounces, the more its leaking down.
I have one that bounces at high rpm at about 3 times a second and thats with a light fertilizer spreader.
