right after the muffler, about 3'' in is a restrictor,,,? suppose to be? was having boiling gas problems so Im replacing the muffler, don't think it needs another restrictor. thanx Steve

Does it have the heat shield that should be under the gas tank?? If it does not then that is your problem not the exhaust/muffler

don't look like it has a heat shield, i'll look into it, but the old muffler wash absolutely shot, so I made an improvement,

No heat shield on these old fords cause a lot of gas tank problems due to the gas getting way to hot

picture of the heat shield
many times when an old tractor is worked on, they leave the heat shield off, if its a pain to put back on.

my TO35 ferguson has a heat shield, my friends TO30 does not, he complains about being able to hear the gas boiling in the tank.

I would not like that, sounds very unsafe to me.
maybe these new gas formulations we have today, allows the gas to boil at lower tempatures than in the past.
I would fix the exhaust system and get a heat shield if one is not in place.

Are you in or near California? I have heard that spark arrestors are
required for wild fire safety there. I've never seen one here in Michigan.
I do have a heat shield if you need one. Shipping may be a bear
depending on where you are located.

Can't tell for sure but that is the way some mufflers are made. They have a cone shaped pipe with a lot of holes that extends a few inches into the muffler outlet. I doubt that it is original Ford, but I can tell you for sure that it is not the original muffler.

I bought the wrong muffler for a Ford 3000D once. It was for an IH and had a restrictor....couldn't see through it. Ford wouldn't run very well on it till I knocked it out since the OEM I removed didn't have a restriction. Years later you know the low hanging tree branch thing, I bought a Ford OEM and it, like the original, didn't have the restriction and ran fine.
