101 plow points?

Iv got a 101 plow that has what looks like black smith points on it like the old style on it. I'm having trouble finding some to replace them. I'm just wondering if I can replace them with a throw away point? Thank, Wil

Send me a email with the number from the back of your old point. It does not work right to use a razor blade point.

I have the same problem with Little Genius points. Take your points to an Amish blacksmith and ask him what can be done. Don't let them get too worn out, they are easier to draw out when they are sharpened frequently

100003 FT SOLID is what's on the back.

I would but someone has tryed to weld a new point on them and done pretty bad job of it. That why I didn't realize it wasn't regular points until I got them off.

KY, I bought new shares from Agri supply last year for my 101 ford plow and in the spring of this year bought another share for my Lienbach plow which uses the same bottom/shares as the ford 101.
They were about $18 a share. Might be other places you can get them cheaper, i didn't bother to look. You can match up your mounting holes in your share with what is listed on there webpage. I believe the early style had three holes and later style four holes but that might not matter.

My Ford plow, model 101, has had nothing but throw away points on it for the past 15 years. My local Fleet Farm can order them for me but it might take 6 weeks or more to get them. John Deere 14-4 points will work on them in a pinch. One hole does not line up perfectly but it is close enough.

This may seem like a silly question, but.... is it a 101, or a 10-1? They use different shares. If it's a 101, the throwaways should do just fine.

I'd suspect you have the early Dearborn Moldboard (Prior Model) 10-1 Plow, not the FORD 101 plow as shown in the picture below. What exactly does the ID TAG say? "Blacksmith" style points would indicate you have the Prior Model, before the Economy Plows, and later, the FORD plows.

Isn't it ? I can figure one could modify the frog or standard to fit these wear parts, but I am wondering why or if it was an optional style for a purpose. I've looked at a lot of 101 plows over the years on the internet and seen some nice ones cheap, but never saw one with moldboards and shares like this one.
