I have a new project so you might see me here more often. Today's question is about my power steering pump. My 841 has power steering but was not working when i bought it . Got it home and first thing was to check the fluid. I took the top off which is held on with a band " its not the type where the a bolt goes through the top" like i had on my 63 t-bird. It's an Eaton pump. There was no filter , low on fluid and it had nice cream color fluid . I think water got in through the top because the gaskets are shot and the right cylinder is leaking. But what i am wondering about is the filter . I see where it goes but what holds it in place? I added some fluid to it and the power steering did work some what ,leaking a little at the cylinder and out the top of the reservoir. So I think drain ,new belt , gasket kit . new cylinder and filter would help a lot. But what holds the filter in place?
