what to do about a leaking gas tank

I've got a 601 with the larger type gas tank. Tank is leaking under the mounting bracket. Leak is very slight but needs to be dealt with. I'm considering going the relining route, mainly because I can't find a aftermarket large tank (plenty of the smaller ones though). Question is, is it worth trying the liner or should I just use the smaller tank? What modifications if any must be done to mount the smaller tank? Thx for any input.

What's the difference between the large 601 tank (something I've never heard of) and a regular 801 tank, which is larger than a standard 601 tank.

The hood rides lower on the smaller tank. I have a small tank on my 800 diesel loader but have my hood mounted for the larger tank. Its a little tight around the tank seams.

Don't know for sure...can't see any additional welds.
Kind of looks like it was spot welded on though.

They may have done a spotweld and then soldered. You might have a rusty tank. They do make an epoxy mix gas tank sealer that you knead together and stick it to it. Follow instructions. The best time to see inside your tank is at night. You can buy a small inspection mirror that will fit in thru the tank and see pretty good.

Wire weld the mounting support to the tank so as not to shake any more spot-welds loose and give it the POR 15 treatment. Have not had one bad result in about a dozen chances
