I bought a seal kit for the single p/s cylinder on this tractor and the seals for the control valve package say mineral oil only. Has anyone installed these before and what kind of mineral oil did you use. The only kind of mineral oil I have found is Pentosin, its tinted green.

I do not have power steering but since no one else has responded I will give you my 2 cents.

Baby oil is 100% mineral oil with perfume added. LOL

But seriously mineral oil is regular oil made from crude oil. Not made from synthetic base oil.
So any power steering fluid made from crude oil and listed as mineral based should be fine.

Thanks for the input. I know R12 refrigerant oil is mineral but I think the Pentosin is a thinner viscosity, it might dispel heat easier. Its just that I've never seen a seal that said mineral oil only. I do know if you get regular power steering fluid on a Gates Greenstripe p/s belt it will swell.

Doesn't really matter. The first or second time you turn the wheels tight. It will put a bind on the cylinder and ruin the seal anyway. I have a 62 4000 row crop finally took the ps off.

Doesn't steer any harder than my 9n.

I might do that, just keep the parts for a restore. I wonder if those add-on one-arm cylinders would be better. I see the arm is different on standard steering in the CNH partstore.
