Bern is generally right on top in these matters, but maybe in a hurry or missed morning coffee this morning, so I hope I'm not offending by offering my take here. The cam follower pin is item #44 (p/n 374072S), not item #52.
You'all have a nice day.

How difficult is it to replace?
Looks like it's in middle in line
with where spring ect comes in?
Thanks

y the book, I would expect disassembly and a press.....but I have used a bar for arm support and a hammer and punch, without disassembly. Of course, the top cover has to be removed from tractor.

Picture shows location. p/n 374072S. Bought from CHN dealer last time several years ago. Some people say they have forced a cut off 5/16 drill bit in the hole but that is 0.3125 vs needed 0.309, which is 0.0035 too large. Maybe sand it down a bit?

Grandpa, that 4000 ,I just bought came with the lift cover already off. I didn't trust the one that came with it because the pin had worn completely off and they drove it in further to try and make it work. I took a whole lift cover off of a 600 parts tractor and the pin was worn half way through. I had a new pin so I replaced it. Put it on and worked great. Hardest part was cleaning all the leaves and gunk and water out of the housing. Your FO-20 is newer than mine.

My issues are on a 1956 960. Should be real close to yours. So the pin is right there ? Looks easy

Never meant to insinuate that it was. That's just one of the pictures I had taken to see how to put it back together. That pin in the
picture at some time or another had the snot beat out of it.

JMOR is correct that's not it. None of the pictures I took showed it. You will see it and it's not bad to change.

Thanks for the replies. Always amazed at the knowledge on here. When I get my part I'm sure I will be back bugging y'all! Lol. Will keep y'all posted. Kevin in Central AL

You've gotten great advice on your question. No arguments.
What I didn't see mentioned was to check the wear on the cam itself.
If it is worn sharp or grooved, it may need to be welded up and resurfaced.
Mine was not that bad and did not need it, but it is a possibility.
One of my 8N cams was toast.

knew that.....I was just afraid that gramps might have thought that it was. :)

Uggggggggggghgh. Now that you
mention it I will check it too.
Thanks ,may as well fix it right
while we in there

Kevin as Royse said look at the cam itself. Mine had a significant groove wore on the edge where the pin rode. Pin was good so either it was replaced and cam was not or a drill bit was used that is harder than the cam maybe.
