Hooked up " new" Bushhog and lift
wouldn't go up until I lifted
draft lever. Then it worked fine
for a bit. Then while cutting
grass it dropped all the way. Big
bald spot in yard. Oh well. Opened
it up. Adjusted the turn
buckle(1st picture) ,with tractor
at idle every time I turned it it
lifted a bit more. I'm happy!!! Oh
wait,crap,ran out of threads part
fell it to oil. Fish around put it
back together. Some what better
but still has issues. Any idea
what is going on ? Thanks. does nut
in second picture have any
adjustment value? First picture is
looking in side cover where PTO
lever and dip stick are. Second
one looking through fill plug
sorta under seat.

There are some tricks you can do to correct some things. Type in the search bar for hydraulic lift problems, you have to hit search once and then again. It may be the pin that rubs the cam is worn or worn totally off. It rubs against the piston for position control and moves the linkage by how much it is set to lift. Theres a trick to put a washer somewhere where the big spring goes in.

t rubs against the cam located on the rock shaft arm, not the piston. The pin that contacts piston skirt is a stop-lift at maximum extension function, not related to position control.
