What is the correct tool to remove the oil level plugs on the Carraro front axle. 1/2" socket head, seems to fit, but will definitely slip with pressure applied.

You have it.... so if it's slipping then the plug is worn. At that point a good size cold chisel is the usual tool of choice until you get a new plug.

Going in, looks and feels like the correct fit, but slips when pressure applied with 1/2" breaker bar. Cold chisel corner to corner should do it. I'll get some replacements. Hard to figure how a low hour tractor gets these level plugs buggered up, 1/2" socket driver is about as common a tool as there is. Was starting to think it was metric, nothing else is on the tractor.

You're right, for whatever reason I thought to catch both corners and use an adjustable wrench. Had to do something similar to the latter at work recently, kind of stuck in my head !

Only has 50-60 hours since the planetary oil was checked. Trying to get some seat time this weekend and get the fields mowed, way late this year. Motor, trans, hydraulic, coolant all getting changed, + new brake rod seals/boots & everything greased beforehand. Never enough time in a day lately.
