Simple 801 questions

I can look it up, but you guys
have the answers faster.

1) How to check Trans fluid level.

2) How to check rear end fluid level.

3) I notice that the throttle max RPM set
clamp has only 1/2 inch travel from IDLE
to 1800. IS THIS NORMAL?

What should I set max RPM to?

Thanks

Transmission and rear axle both have pipe plugs on the side of the housing to check the fluid level.

Not sure what you are talking about on the throttle max rpm clamp is. Know the throttle lever assembly well enough, never heard of this before.

IIRC, max. rpm should be 2350. I wouldn't worry about the distance, as long as it doesn't allow it to over-rev.

Do not know if it make a difference or not but you do know the 801 is a series of the Ford tractor and there are a number of different models of the 801 like the 821 the 831, the 841 the 851 and 861 and then the 2 sos models the 871 and 881

It is an 841
I drained the trans and got 2 gallons
of a greenish tan oily substance. It
was obviously overfilled but It does
not look like a water mix. I filled with
90W to the side pipe plug.

The rear I drained from under the
housing in front of the rear banjo.
Got two gallons of oil out..
Then filled to the side pipe plug with
90W.,

Started tractor and no longer the lift worked.
Checked dip stick and was out. So I have to add
hydraulic fluid which I believe is leaking to the rear.

So I guess I'll have to add hydraulic to both the lift and the rear.

I have an 841S and I run UTF 303 fluid in the transmission hyds and rear end. # compartments on the 841 transmission hyd and rear end and 3 drains and 3 fills on the 841

If the seals between the compartments are leaking
(common), the hydraulic pump will be getting a
mixture of hydraulic oil and 90W...which it will not
like. The usual recommendation is to use 134d-
compatible hydraulic oil in all three reservoirs.

I am wondering if The bottom pipe plug under the
smooth compartment before the rear banjo
might have been the hydraulic reservoir and
not the rear end..

Where is the drain for the banjo?

May be hidden by a swinging drawbar. Should be under the center of the differential, possibly what you call the banjo.

Yes
Mistakenly drained the hydraulics
reservoir. The rear axle drain
is right at the end of the draw bar.

Now I have to prime the hydraulics
to make it work again.
