53 Jubilee bleeding Hydro

My 3 pt chatters/ shudders as I lift it even with no weight. I think there is air in it. New to me.

Where do I bleed it on the external hyro pump??

If not air let me know what you all think it is. im thinking air in it or something.

I think I found it. the Right most allen cap/screw on the external pump till a steady stream of fluid?

can anyone confirm this?!

If it is the later style round body piston pump, then yes, you found it.

If it is the square bodied vane pump that was original on a '53 NAA/Jubilee, then I don't think that there is a bleed point at the pump. I think that you need to bleed it at the large nut on the 3x5 plate on the top cover that you see when you are sitting on the tractor and look straight down between your knees.

2wheelgnnr, here's a pic of the later pump. Plug circled.
I pull the plug, put in a brass fitting with a hose barb, then run
a clear hose back and put it in the hydro filler cap to bleed mine.
Don't loose the fluid that way and you can watch the air bubbles
as they go through the clear hose and clear up.
Pretty sure I found that procedure in the book somewhere.

Great Idea Royse as I tried it last night and was getting a steady stream but didnt want to leave open too long and dump fluid. The fluid looks very good and somewhat new so i dont want to dump it all over so this would be perfect as it appears I need to run longer as the 3pth still chattered up after so I really need to bleed it longer I feel.

And that is the exactly how my pump looks and I did loosen that allen cap. Thanks for the pic.

no happens to know the thread size of that plug so i can get a adapter on my way home. I'll have to go home take it off and take it back to the hardware store to find the size....thanks

Once you bleed it so that the lift starts working, it should work the rest of the air out of the system on its own in short order. If it still chatters after several minutes then there is a leak in the intake somewhere and it is sucking air, and no amount of bleeding will help that.

Yeah I may have a leak. I bled alot of air out last night but still chatters. what is best way to find an air leak. the bolts for inlet and outlet seem tight on the bottom of pump. Should I just replace the o rings in there for good measure???

Let me know places to look for air. no sound of air sucking that I can hear.

ran 15-20 purging air. I was thinking maybe running it more My goal was to cycle though the whole amount of fluid to purge of air.

Thank you all.
