I've had a nice ole 860 for 8 years with no problems. I recently had an ignition issue and while troubleshooting realized i had a 12 volt conversion. (new to me tractor and thought the 12 volt set up was the way they came). After looking through this forum i basically figured how to get it running again, but noticed my wiring is a mix of i think 6 and 12 volt. I have the 4 prong solenoid and the dimmer switch for a starter. Ammeter and a ballast in the ignition circuit. I want to switch to a volt meter as my ammeter isn't working and figured i would change to volt meter while i was working in the dash. How can i tell if i still have a 6 volt coil or 12? Does it matter and do i still need the ballast?
