601 Workmaster Tranny/clutch

Hi, bought a 601 workmaster w/ a 4 speed trans, about 2 months ago with a bushog. It's been running well until this week. Going down a small hill I've gone up and down many times, it went into neutral. No forward or reverse gears. I opened top of shifter, there's plenty of fluid not milky, no broken anything I can see, shift plate moves with a screwdriver, gears seem to turn some but not more than aprx 15 deg.. Closed it up, still no gears. There's was no warning, no grinding, no noise etc. Shift lever feels normal, but when letting out clutch, nothing. Any ideas? Thx!

Well that would be a 601 series and a 641 is the model of it.
Does the PTO still work?? If it does then the clutch is still good. If the PTO does not work good chance the clutch has gone bad. But if the PTO still works then if could be the splined coupler between the transmission and the rear end has broken or stripped out. Or either the ring or pinion gear has stripped out or the ring gear has broken loose. Also could be a broken transmission input shaft

Hey thanks. No PTO. It only operates when clutch is engaged, so no clutch, no pto. Guess next step is to separate and take a look. Thx!

I do not remember for sure but it is worth a look see. Look under the bell housing area and see if it has a bolt on plate there. If it does you can remove that plate and have a look see. Start it up and engage the PTO with a load on the PTO and watch for the input shaft is spinning as it should. If it is not then the problem is the clutch it self if it is spinning then the problem could be the shaft it self farther back or something in the transmission
