Could someone identify the purpose of these two "features" on the rear of my 841? The one on top has an attaching bracket that appears to be bent. The lower one has a matching loop on the right side. Thanks.

The left item is a trailer connector. The connecting wire is missing and the bracket is bent.

The right item is a lynch pin holder.

Correct on both counts.
I have a pair of those linch pin holders around here somewhere. They were bolted onto the fenders of a 4000 when I got it. I kept them when i sold it.

pretty common options, a lot of my tractors have both.
Observation...Live pto, rest-o-ride seats, PS, etc, those 'optioned out' tractors all seem to have em.

reading Bern's good observation,
With Ford being so frugal, wonder if that's where he got em....
Wonder if they had the 'Employee Suggestion Plan' back then.
Some smart assembly line worker mighta got an award from the idea. :)
