1968 ford 4000

New to the forum hello all. Would be grateful if anyone could help with possible solution to blowby on the 68 4000 i just bought, guy said it sit for over a year. There seems to be a little coming out when it idles, after i bush hog with it couple hours it seems to be alot more. Havent done compression test on cylinders or changed oil, or plugs.
Just curious if i bought a lemon
Thanks

They are great tractors but they still wear
out. Maybe pull the plugs and dump 2 cups of
atf down each hole. Let it sit for a week.
That might free up any stuck rings. Then
turn it over and blow the atf out, reinstall
plugs and run it Hard for a few hours.
I suggest 2 cups because the tops of those
gas pistons are dished deeply. Like a soup
bowl. Dish will hold at least a cup of oil
and you want the atf to spill over the top
and soak the rings.
Then do your compression test.
Let us know your results.
Welcome to the board.

Just to add to what Ultra said be sure to put the plugs back in so as to keep dirt etc out of the engine. Plus if it has a vertical exhaust pout as much ATf down the exhaust as you can till it starts to leak out of some place. That get the ATF to the valves so if they are sticking any they free up better
