3000 Simms pump quit ?

My 3000 was mowing fine and the front tire started going flat so I drove it to the house and parked it .

It sat for a few weeks and I went to start it . I noticed a squirrel or something had started building a nest on top of the pump and there were sticks stuck between the pump and block . I picked most of the stuff out and started it .

It started and ran at full throttle for a minute and died , so I shut it down and went to the house . Came back a week later and it would not start . I have some pin holes in the tank and it might have run out of fuel .

I ran an air hose and blew out all of the debris around the motor . I poured in 5 gallons and bled the filters and the plug on the side of the injector pump . The fuel pump is pumping good so the injector shaft must be turning ?

I loosened the lines at the injectors and have turned it over 100 times . I shot some either an ran it for a dozen rotations . Charged the battery and spun it some more .

I removed an injector line at the top of the injector pump and it is not pumping through the pump . First thing I thought of it the kill lever is stuck , but it moves freely .

Did the high rpm throw out something ? 10 running hours ago I serviced the pump and drained / refilled the oil when I changed the motor oil .

I guess at this point I need to pull the pump ? I have ordered a $50 rebuild kit . I would rather get it running to do hay and refresh the pump this winter .

I have a new tank sitting in a box at the shop . I was going to air up the tire and drive it to the shop to fix both of those problems .

Any suggestions ?

Thank's - Ken .

It may or may not help but there is a small round cap on the top of the pump that looks like the cap on a Jubilee where you but the oil in with a little nut on top holding it. Pull it off and there is a metal type filter under it. Mine would crank and die and everybody keep telling me it had air in the lines to bleed it. Well after I cleaned that filter it's run perfect ever since. I clean it as part of my routine maintenance now.
