gold demonstrator

how many series made a gold demonstrator? a buddy goes and buys tractors to bring out here and sell, he usually gets really nice original ones and usually hundred series or fergys, usualy when i cant afford one, lol, he claims to have a 861 gold demonstrater spotted, and thinks its owner may sell, something here doesnt sound right or is it me?

Could be an 871 or 881 gold demonstrator, but not an 861. 861 would have a 5-speed.
As far as which series had the GD's, any model available with the Select-O-Speed was available as a GD, as far as I know, within the time frame/serial number range when they were built.

Not saying for sure, But I've never seen or heard of one in a 501 series.

Gold demonstrators, at least on these forums have never been made out to be that big a deal. It is rare to see anybody get more than a couple hundred extra for one.

Doesn't sound right at all, gold demonstrator were to show off the selectospeed transmission, an 861 would be 5 speed gear transmission
