Just brought a 66 5000 SOS home runs like a dream was wondering where to check Transmission Fluid level and what fluid to use and where to check Hydraulic and what fluid to use. Thanks in advance

Welcome and congratulations. There is a level check hole for the transmission on the right side of the transmission housing near the brake pedals, just forward of the seam between the transmission and the rear axle center housing that should have a square headed pipe plug in it. That hole is both the fill hole and the level check hole. Fill it through that hole until fluid just begins to leak out of the hole and then put the plug back in.

The rear axle is the sump for the 3 point hydraulics. There should be a dipstick on the left side in the same round plate where the PTO control handle is located for the hydraulic sump/rear axle level check. The fill hole for the hydraulics/rear axle is on the top of the lift cover, which is on top of the rear axle center housing. The hole should be located under your tight butt cheek when you're sittign on the seat, and shgould have a large hex head plug in it.

The current fluid spec for both the transmission and hydraulics/rear axle is the Ford/New Holland M2C134D fluid specification. There are many UTF fluids out there that say on the label that they meet or exceed that specification. Use any one of those.

I recommend that you get both an Operator's Manual (sometimes called the owner's manual) and a service manual. The Operator's Manual covers routine maintenance items like fluid and filter changes that are not covered in the service manual, while the service manual covers other adjustments like the band adjustments for the S-O-S transmission as well as repair & rebuild instructions for most everything that might need it at some point or another.
