Every time I touched the right break pedal brakes squealed like a banshee so I thought the shoes needed to be replaced. So I ordered all the parts and pieces and this evening removed the tire/rim and pulled the drum. The existing shoes have almost as much pad as the new shoes do. And I didn't see where any metal to metal contact was being made. The drum feel pretty smooth too. So, since I have the parts, I'll put the new ones in.
Here's the question. The long spring that holds the shoes together and up against the pedal cam was behind the shoes when I disassembled everything. In the Steiner video the long spring is in front of the shoes (toward the tire), when they put things back together. Seems this will be easier to install that way, but I want to be sure I'm doing it correctly. So which way should that spring go? Toward the tractor or toward the wheel?
Thanks for any help you can provide!
