Hey Fordfarmer , bought a Ford 224 18 ft wing disc

So I found this Ford 224 18 ft disc with manual wings,and it followed me home. Wondering if it ever came with spring assist wings.Would be
handy to have, have you ever seen them with spring assist wings?........John

No, just the manual ones. The owners manual shows a crank mechanism for raising and lowering.

Oh wow, i see that crank system on the back,just thought it was to change angle on the back gang of discs.It has no cables pulleys or rods, guess i have to see if i can round up a manual for this disc from somewhere, maybe from new holland?

There are at least 3 on ebay right now. A reprint for $10 and change, and two originals for about double that.
The tool for changing the gang angle is a piece of flat steel, roughly 2 x 20, with three 1/2" rods welded to it. The 8" (?) long one fits in the holes in the frame and acts as a pivot point. The 1/2" ones act like a cam, pushing on the gang frame.

I think some of them had greasable gang bearings. If yours has sealed bearings like mine, the CarQuest number is DS-209-TT2. Cheaper and quicker than from New Holland... and in my case, 40 miles closer. I keep one on hand, since when I need one, I need it NOW.
