4600 Misses when warm

My 4600 diesel developed a miss between 1100 and 1600 rpm while bush hogging the other day. The tractor always starts and idles perfectly and uses very little oil. With it having 5000 hours I installed new injectors and adjusted the valves. I also installed a new fuel filter while I was working on it. Anyone have any ideas?

Have you checked the return line to make sure it's not clogged?

Brush hog should always be run at 540 rpm, else the blades will be spinning to slow to work properly. I believe that the proper engine rpm is somewhere around 1800 to 1850 rpm to obtain 540 rpm PTO speed on a 4600, so try running it up where the brush hog wants to be run.

The return line seems to be flowing as it should. Sorry, I was unclear in when the problem is happening. It only began while bush hogging, the miss is now happening any time the tractor is warm and between 1100-1600 rpm, not just when bush hogging.

Did you change all of the o-rings and quad rings on the filters? If not... I'd probably go back and change them and the filter again... It's
not uncommon for them to pull some air and get an occasional flutter from the air passing through. Beyond that... I'd say either an injector
is bad or you have a valve problem... but usually a valve sputter will be noticeable at all speeds.

I did change all the o rings. It seemed like there may have been some bubbles coming through the return line. Any chance it's just an air pocket that wasn't purged out while priming the system?
