Hello
I already posted this once but apparently it didnt go anywhere. My name is Luke. I recently purchased what I was told is a 1958 Industrial Ford 1841 with loader and backhoe. I am seeking help because this is my first tractor and over the years I learned these forums are a wealth of information. So here is what Im trying to figure out.
Issue 1
The factory backhoe did not come with quick disconnects which renders the 3 point hitch useless. So I think I found a place to buy fittings but any suggestions would be useful. Also, someone mentioned that I may not be able to just terminate the lines with quick connects but actually might have to loop the lines not to burn out the hydraulic pump.
Issue 2
The power steering doesnt match any diagram I have found for 1801, 841 or 801 am I looking in the wrong place. I will attach pictures but if someone has access to diagram that would be great. I need to do some maintenance on the front steering. Specifically, the rod that seems to connect the wheel hub to the steering frame. Again, my terminology may be way off so I will attach pictures soon.

Thank you in advance for any help
Luke

You will have to "loop" the hydraulic lines. I have some large quick connects with hoses (1 inch I think) I would like to get rid of. They are like new, price would be reasonable compared to new. Located in Central Illinois, but could ship.

That sounds great, the supply line looks smaller than return. Would you happen to know if 1" is the size of coupler I need. I would be looking for two sets. I looked on a website that deals in hydraulics and they provide this visual sizing chart and I cant figure out if 1" is what I need. Let me know how much you would like for those fittings. Also thank you very much for confirming the "loop".

Yes your system has to be looped. You can do it with quick disconnects or a coupler. I guess it would matter how many time you will be taking the backhoe off.
Your 1841 should have come with an actuator cable steering system. They were a poor design and parts are no longer available. When broke some were changed out to the 4000 HD
industrial system and some were modified like my 1841 with a truck steering box system. Best to post some photos so we can figure out what you have and how to help you.

My steering design looks very much like the diagram. My spindle components are very worn and the spindle just flops around in the holes.

My steering system has a hydraulic cylinder but it does look like it was retrofitted based on the rough looking bracket its attached to. I keep forgetting to snap some pictures. Based on this diagram it looks like the power steering lines runs through the radiator is that correct?.

(quoted from post at 18:18:57 06/25/17) GENERAL QUESTION

Is there a place online that's really good for parts for these tractors?

98% of the parts are the same as an 801. and are very readily available from this site as well as numerous others.
