My 1495 haybine died in the field yesterday. If I let it sit and cool it'll start and run about five minutes then die and not start until it's cool again. Air filter is nearly new, took the fuel line off the carburetor and it seems to be getting enough gas to run.

Do not know the machine as such but if it is a gravity flow fuel system pull the carb drain plug and make sure you have a good steady flow of gas that will fill a pint jar in under 3 minutes and yes catch the gas to look for dirt/water etc. Does choking it hurt or help?? How is the spark does it jump a 1/4 inch gap or more?? How about pulling the gas cap off and see if it stays running if it does the gas tank vent is clogged
