Powder coating my '57 Powermaster

Has anyone ever had all of their sheet metal powder coated? If so, who was the powder supplier and what were the paint codes? I've got a chance to have all of the sheet
metal properly painted and a good friend of mine does power coating professionally. This is too good of a chance to pass up!

A number of parts on this 961 were powder coated. but this is orange red, not vermillion. You best bet is to take a part like the battery box and clean the underside with rubbing compound and select the best match. He should have 15-20 reds to choose from.

I have posted here many times about my dislike for powder coat on anything that is likely to get scratched. Other than that I have used it for a number of parts that are not subject to scratching.

I also have a friend that does powder coating professionally ,but, I hope you have better luck with powder coating than I do. I have built truck beds, trailers, fancy gates and hand railings and had them powder coating in a lot of different colors, and none of them have held up for more than a year or two. You get a little nick or ding on it and water gets under it ,rusts and peels off in sheets.Once it starts that, what do you do? You have to have it sandblasted and start over. Powder coating is not for me.

the whole key in powder coating is surface preparation. If not properly prepared and that means CLEAN if can fail prematurely.

In many ways powder coating is more tedious than painting, but done correctly it holds up well.

Like wise I am not a fan of powder coating, for some items its ok but a good paint and paint application is better in the long go of it.

Powdercoating will not hold up in the sun. My Brush Hog brand rotary mower was powdercoated from the factory and is kept inside a heated/ac building all year long and the red is turning lighter.
